I am certain you have seen the up cycled sweater coats on ESTY being made by a number of estyieans.
Some of the nicer coats are Katwise coats on her own website as she is the originator of this trend but Pandora's Closet make a beautiful version of that coat as well.
I am also expanding my imagination in making these coats only I will be making them for children and since used
1) wool sweaters are nearly impossible to obtain in this area so I am making them from recycled sweat shirts
2)which is more durable for a child as it's washable (no dry cleaning required) and still will be a warm fun coat for spring and fall or those cool summer nights.
3) making them from up-cycled sweat shirts will bring down the cost substantially, making them affordable for Children's wear
4) offering sizes 4T through size 8 girls

My new Juki Serger came in today and I am most excited to start on this venture (just waiting for my specialty threads to arrive) and allow children in on the fun of up cycled fairy coats. I was inspired to do this last year when I attempted to find someone who made these coats for kids as I wanted to purchase one for my granddaughter. Well, to say the lease what I found was not what I expected and I was so disappointed. So that's when I decided to make one for her myself. I should have one completed by the end of next week and post a picture of the first one I accomplish.
Wish me luck, I'll get back to you with pictures next week, in the mean time this is what you can expect except for the appliques on the front of the coat as it's really hard to find kids sweatshirts without something on the front of them. I will find them eventually. so stay tuned for the next round of pictures
