Root Chakra, balancing meditaion, yoga exercise

Today is December 1, 2012,
To end this year, for the next 7 days, I  will blog about the Chakra Healing Energy we all contain within us and offer a mini series on chakra clearing, balancing and grounding each chakra energy center through awarness and meditation
Let us start with the 1st - Root Chakra, which is located at the base of the spine, perineum.
The Root Chakra is deep red in color and it's element is the Earth. It's ruling planet is Saturn. It is associated with our basic animal instincts of survival and self preservation: food, shelter, health and security. It is the very foundation in which we identify ourselves. This chakra relates to the principal of gravity, connecting us to our bodies, to the physical world around us and to the ground below. It's essence is that of rock, self-sufficient and unto thy self. Associated body parts are the Pelvic, anus, large intestine, adrenal gland, back, legs, feet and bones.
Basic issues are of safety, survival, shelter, groundedness, nourishment, self-esteem, trust, boundaries and physical health. Foods that support the root chakra are proteins; soy, tofu, nuts and legumes. Essential oils for support of the root chakra are bergamot, sandalwood,  cinnamon. Gemstones are; garnet, onyx, smokey quartz. Flower essences; blackberry, clematis and corn

Major issues of an unbalanced Root Chakra are feelings of isolation, abandonment and a lack of trust. Fear may take control of our emotional and psychological health. We may feel uncomfortable or not present in our body, a sense of not being in control, not heard or noticed. There may be difficulty  manifesting what is needed such as a good job, relationship, a home, attracting friends. Coupled with a sense of lack, not having enough money, clothing, food, happiness and a conviction that material wealth is crucial

Signs of an unbalance Root Chakra are;

Physical issues;
lower back pain, sciatica, obesity, anorexia, constipation, hemorrhoids, prostrate problems and varicose veins
Common addictions; food, alcohol, sex

When the root chakra is balanced the vital connection to life is strong and supported. Our foundation is secure and we feel safe, supported and grounded, alive and peaceful.
A balanced root chakra brings;
a sense of safety, a strong feeling of belonging, an ability to trust and sense of acceptance. A sense of fulfillment, of being at hoe in one's body and on the earth.
Activities to promote a balance Root Chakra are, yoga, walking, hiking, running, biking and gardening

I am grounded and connected to the earth

Meditation to balance the Root Chakra;
Focus on the Root Chakra, the color red and the sound of  "O". Chant the sound "O"
  • Stand with your feet at about the width of the hips apart. Arms at your sides or extended out in front of you
  • Inhale, deep, filling your entire belly, pulling the energy up through your feet, up through your entire body
  • Exhale and while doing so, gently bend your knees a few inches, inhale again and straighten your knees,
  • Continue slowly bending and straightening your knees in coordination with your long, deep breaths
  • Each time you breath in and bend your knees and exhale, straightening your knees, feel yourself becoming more and more connected to the earth. Feel the rhythm of Mother Earth fill your being with her strength and peacefulness
  • Continue on for about 3 minuets or until you feel comfortable with your groundedness
  • When complete, remain standing or sit comfortably closing your eyes completely now, and focus on the following thought
I am grounded and balanced. . .I am safe and secure. . .

This will clear and calm your mind, slows breathing and heart rate, promotes a sense of profound physical connection to the earth and spirit

Tomorrow we will go over the Sacral Chakra-Orange-2nd Chakra
until then. . . blessings

November Energies and Changes

WOW!  As the winds of change blow I get this eerie feeling that some of the changes that are on the horizon are destructive and unruly. Well of course that could be that the wind is blowing at about 65mph and the barn is now a third gone, inside the foundation. But I can't help but feel the tremble in my own foundation today. I'm not a person who is afraid of change but we all become so comfortable where we are in our lives that sometimes when changes do start to occur, we feel it deep down inside of us. At a soul level. . .so  if you feeling the same as I do, coming into this solstice, let's meditate to ground and clear ourselves. . .

Sit in a comfortable chair with your feet flat on the floor, place your hands on your lap, palms up and relax...take in a deep breath pulling the energy from the floor, up through your feet, calve, knees, thighs, up into your trunk, pulling it all the way up to your heart chakra. On the exhale, send the breath out, forming a circle of light around you about as far as arms reach. Now with the next breath, pull the light from the crystalline matrix above your head, into your self and bring it down to your heart chakra, see it filling your lungs, belly and swirling around inside working it's magic as it clears and heals you. On the exhale allow the light to add to your circle making it stronger and enhancing and strengthening your aura. Now with the next breath, we will pull the light from both directions until it meets at the heart chakra, clearing and cleansing all the way. Swirling and healing our very being. Now exhale again allowing the light around you to become even stronger.
As you sit in relaxation and totally grounded now, commune with spirit, asking for help and clarity in anything you feel uncertain of. Even though you may not receive the answer to your question right now, remember it will come, so just invision yourself  in the outcome  you would wish for.
As I sit back and admire some of the treasures I have gathered this year, reminding me that life is abundant and that I am a being of light having and enjoying this experience of life in the third dimension, indulging in a human experience.  I
think good thoughts as November, being the 11th month, is a doorway to our tomorrows.
I hope this grounding helps you as much as it does me. Thank you for joining me today and have a most wonderful day. . .

Chakra Mediation

This week I'd like to introduce you to a Throat Chakra Meditation. Remember that the Throat Chakra is associated with communication whereas when balanced it assists us with the ability to communicate verbally, in writing or with our creativity. We are able to speak our truth, in a supreme sense. We feel balanced and centered, creatively inspired and able to express ourselves appropriately. It helps us to overcome low self esteem, frustration, dishonesty, excessive talking and shyness. The color is light blue or turquoise. I like to think of it as blue topaz, clear and serene. Let's get started

Chin Press Breath
  • Sit with the spine comfortably extended. Eyes closed
  • Inhale to the count of 5, hold it to 3, exhale completely. Inhale through the nose to the count of 5, hold it to 3, exhale through the mouth
  • Lift the breastbone and press your chin into your chest while inhaling. Suspend the breath for 3 to 5 seconds
  • Lift your chin from your chest while you exhale through the mouth allowing the breath to pass through the vocal cords accompanied by sound (ahhhh)
  • Repeat the movement several times in coordination with the breath
  • Visualize cleansing crystal clear blue energy opening the gateway to true communication
  • Continue for one to three minuets

"I am able to hear the voice of my soul"

Benefits;

  • stimulates the thyroid and regulates metabolism
  • stretches the muscles at the back of the neck to release tension
  • improves willpower and concentration
  • promotes a sense of inner peace

This is a marvelous meditation before going on a job interview or meeting with clients as it helps you to clear the throat chakra and focus on your communication skills. I find it helpful to prerecord a meditation in your own voice as you go through it, this enables you to use the tape as a guided meditation so you don't have to memorize it. The easier it is, the more use you'll make of it until it becomes second nature to you.

I hope you enjoyed this meditation and use it often. till next time. . .

with love and light
