Root Chakra, balancing meditaion, yoga exercise

Today is December 1, 2012,
To end this year, for the next 7 days, I  will blog about the Chakra Healing Energy we all contain within us and offer a mini series on chakra clearing, balancing and grounding each chakra energy center through awarness and meditation
Let us start with the 1st - Root Chakra, which is located at the base of the spine, perineum.
The Root Chakra is deep red in color and it's element is the Earth. It's ruling planet is Saturn. It is associated with our basic animal instincts of survival and self preservation: food, shelter, health and security. It is the very foundation in which we identify ourselves. This chakra relates to the principal of gravity, connecting us to our bodies, to the physical world around us and to the ground below. It's essence is that of rock, self-sufficient and unto thy self. Associated body parts are the Pelvic, anus, large intestine, adrenal gland, back, legs, feet and bones.
Basic issues are of safety, survival, shelter, groundedness, nourishment, self-esteem, trust, boundaries and physical health. Foods that support the root chakra are proteins; soy, tofu, nuts and legumes. Essential oils for support of the root chakra are bergamot, sandalwood,  cinnamon. Gemstones are; garnet, onyx, smokey quartz. Flower essences; blackberry, clematis and corn

Major issues of an unbalanced Root Chakra are feelings of isolation, abandonment and a lack of trust. Fear may take control of our emotional and psychological health. We may feel uncomfortable or not present in our body, a sense of not being in control, not heard or noticed. There may be difficulty  manifesting what is needed such as a good job, relationship, a home, attracting friends. Coupled with a sense of lack, not having enough money, clothing, food, happiness and a conviction that material wealth is crucial

Signs of an unbalance Root Chakra are;
fear, anxiety, insecurity, worry, grief, depression, disconnection, distrust, numbness, low self-esteem and greeToday is December 1, 2012,

Activities to promote a balance Root Chakra are, yoga, walking, hiking, running, biking and gardening

I am grounded and connected to the earth

Meditation to balance the Root Chakra;
Focus on the Root Chakra, the color red and the sound of  "O". Chant the sound "O"
  • Stand with your feet at about the width of the hips apart. Arms at your sides or extended out in front of you
  • Inhale, deep, filling your entire belly, pulling the energy up through your feet, up through your entire body
  • Exhale and while doing so, gently bend your knees a few inches, inhale again and straighten your knees,
  • Continue slowly bending and straightening your knees in coordination with your long, deep breaths
  • Each time you breath in and bend your knees and exhale, straightening your knees, feel yourself becoming more and more connected to the earth. Feel the rhythm of Mother Earth fill your being with her strength and peacefulness
  • Continue on for about 3 minuets or until you feel comfortable with your groundedness
  • When complete, remain standing or sit comfortably closing your eyes completely now, and focus on the following thought
I am grounded and balanced. . .I am safe and secure. . .

This will clear and calm your mind, slows breathing and heart rate, promotes a sense of profound physical connection to the earth and spirit

Tomorrow we will go over the Sacral Chakra-Orange-2nd Chakra
until then. . . blessings
