and it is bright yellow. It's sound is "AH" This is our personality and Willpower, that which measures our holiness and goodness of will.
The third chakra, the Navel Solar Plexus is associated with identity and self. Known as the "power center" this is the area of assertiveness, intuition and inner drive. The Navel Solar Plexus chakra controls digestion and the metabolic systems, processing of energies and giving us the spark we need to overcome inertia and apathy. It allows us to assert our selves and bring forth our personal power, follow our gut feelings, take risks and make decisions. It is associated with the element of fire and is located at the navel. Associated body parts; stomach, liver, gallbladder, spleen, adrenal glands. Basic issues are; ego, self-esteem, vitality, forcefulness, perception, insight and discipline. Gemstones: citron, jasper and topaz. Flower essence; chamomile, goldenrod, pink yarrow, Essential oils: Ginger, black pepper, peppermint, Foods; complex carbohydrates (whole grains, beans)
An unbalanced Navel Solar Plexus may manifest itself in low self esteem, little or no vitality, hypersensitivity to criticism or being overly critical of others. Evident may be feelings of uncertainty, rage, or dominance; a tendency toward perfection, power struggles and an emphasis on professional and social status.
Emotional or mental issues; anger, fear, poor self esteem, indecisiveness, apathy, resentment, jealousy, greed
Physical issues;
digestive problems, food allergies, diabetes, ulcers, liver problems, jaundice, gallstones, adrenal glands, arthritis

When the Solar Plexus is balanced, we are energetic and confident. We are in touch with our personal power, able to follow through on ideas and see tasks through to completion. The warm fire of the Solar Plexus shines brightly, allowing us to feel cheerful, vital, strong and alive
A balanced third chakra brings;
- a strong sense of identity and healthy self-respect
- a willingness to persevere
- an ability to trust our instincts
- a sense of belonging
- Beneficial actives to promote and maintain a balanced solar plexus; power yoga, aerobics, swimming, power walking, hiking
breath in, a deep breath and pull the energies from the bottom of your feet, pulling the energy all the way up into the solar plexus. As you exhale push the air out causing a circle of light all the way around you, at about arms length around you.
Now, take another deep breath and pull the energy from your crown chakra, above your head, pull the energy all the way down to your solar plexus, then exhale again, envisioning a circle of light all the way around you. Now on the third inhale pull the energy from both your feet and your crown chakra, pulling the energies into the solar plexus, and on the exhale, again, send the energy all around you, in a circle of light and healing energy.
Now we are ready for the yoga exercise. . .
Breath of Fire in Strength Pose
- Lie flat on your back, hands under your buttocks, palms down,
- Raise both heels six inches off the floor
- Lift your head six inches off the floor. Gaze down at your toes
- Open your mouth, stick out your tongue, and pant like a dog. As you find your rhythm, bring your tongue in and continue this rapid, forceful breathing as you inhale and exhale through the nose
- Allow your belly to expand as you exhale, your belly should contract, inhalations and exhalations should be of equal duration
- Continue for one to three minuets
Benefits;
- increases the flow of oxygen throughout the body, purifying the entire system and improving circulation
- tones the abdominal muscles and strengthens the diaphragm
- strengthens the power center located at the solars plexus as it recharges and warms the body
- helps establish a sense of personal boundaries
tomorrow we will move into the 4th Chakra, the Heart charkra which is about unconditional love and healing, my personal favorite
